After doing the Race for Life Helen was encouraged by a friend to do a 10km. She started running marathons in 2007 and a few years later did a 30 mile ultra. She then did the Swiss Alpine marathon which she enjoyed so much when she got to the finish she wanted to turn around and run back! They also had a 78km ultra so that’s where the longer ultras started. Helen has now completed around 150 marathons and ultra-marathons.

Greatest achievement

Basel 24-hour race, Helen completed a 213KM race, and finished as 1st lady. 


Helen will be starting the year with a number of local races, on the 8th of March Helen will be running in the Wrexham Marathon.  This will give her a chance to work towards her main goal of beating her 12 hour personal best which is 75 miles. Helen will also be trying to break her marathon personal best during 2015, which is currently 3.12.21.

One of the main objectives for Helen during her 2015 season is to run a 12 hour race or 100km race before the summer. After which Helen will commit to a busy summer of events.


It was a great year for Helen, she came first lady at a number of events. In 2014 coming first lady at Gloucester 24 hour race was a massive achievement, as the 24 Hour Track Race celebrates the anniversary of the British 24 hour record being set by Dave Dowdle in May 1982, at the recently refurbished Blackbridge Jubilee Track in Gloucester. Helen also finished first lady at the Ground Hog day track marathon and Loughbrough half marathon.
