Evelesi Lwasi

Ngabu, Salima, Malawi

Evelesi, a mother of six living in Malawi, bought a solar light for her children. “My children use the solar light for studying. They are able to read at night which was not possible initially when we had no solar lights. It’s so bright, it’s a good light that you can’t imagine!” The children are now studying for an extra two hours a night; they used to study by kerosene lamp. She saves $24 a year as she no longer buys kerosene and the family have two hours extra lighting each night because, “The solar light doesn’t need constant supply of paraffin so it’s easy to use every day for longer time. It doesn’t require spending money, it’s free, we just use the sun. With the savings, I invest in business.”
